What Clicktag adds

Search Console next to your traffic. Queries, clicks and impressions with up to 16 months of history, in the same dashboard as your pageviews.

API analytics. One middleware for Hono, Express, Fastify, Next.js, Workers and Go reports requests, status codes, p50, p95 and p99 latency and errors per route, and emails you when error rate, p95 latency or traffic crosses a threshold. More on API analytics.

More sites for free. Up to 50 websites per account.

Where Umami is the better choice

  • You want to self-host. Umami is MIT licensed; Clicktag is closed source.
  • You need session replay or heatmaps (Umami Business), revenue tracking, segments or user journeys.
  • You want to choose between US and EU hosting.

Switch from Umami

Add your site, then replace the Umami script with the tracking script from your site settings:

<script
  async
  src="https://clicktag.io/latest.js"
  data-hostname="example.com"
  data-verify="YOUR_SITE_VERIFY_TOKEN"
></script>

Replace umami.track("signup") calls with window.tt_event("signup"). Umami history can't be imported.

FAQ

Can I import my Umami data?

No. Clicktag only imports Simple Analytics CSV exports.

How does Clicktag count without cookies?

A visit counts when someone enters your site. Live visitors, events and goals use a hash of the IP address and user agent with a salt that changes every UTC day and is then deleted. IP addresses are never stored.

Which backends does the API monitoring support?

Hono, Express, Fastify, Next.js route handlers and Cloudflare Workers through the totallytics npm package, and Go 1.22+ with modules for chi, gin and echo.
